Random Quote Rant and Questions....

Whatever you are be a good one.  ~Abraham Lincoln

I came across this quote earlier and of course it got me to thinking about what Honest Abe really meant. To an optimist, it just means that whatever you do with your life, do it well. Ok, yeah, good advice right? I'm more interested in the deeper meaning and my curious mind likes to questions what exactly the message here is.

My first point to this is if Abe is telling us to get off our lazy butts and go make something of ourselves and be good at it, or if he's implying that we can do what we want, just as long as we are good at it.
The latter part of the above statement crossed my mind first. Simple enough right? Just be a good person? I think not. Abraham Lincoln worked most of his life for everything he got, he just wasn't handed things. If the last part of my sentence were true, Abe would've been telling us that if we wanted to be a hobo standing out on the street corner, we could do it, as long as we did it well. Now, I don't know about you, but to me, hobos don't live a very successful and fulfilling life. Am I wrong? I know that some intelligent people out there are like, "Yeah, I know, shut up already" well kudos to you guys for knowing what Abe meant...but there are also some other people who may or may not read this that honestly need to get off their butts and get out and do something with their life.

There's nothing more pathetic than living with your parents until you're 40. Sorry to say, but unless you have a really good reason for staying with them, you need to move out. Not having a job isn't a good excuse, sorry! I find it even worse when a student graduates from high school and basically refuses to go to college or try to find a job. If you aren't going to do anything with your diploma, then why even get it at all? So you can be called a High School Graduate? I'm sorry to tell you, but high school diplomas aren't very high on the achievement list anymore. Nowadays more jobs are requiring an Associates or a Bachelors degree. There are small local colleges that have cheap tuition that would provide with decent post secondary (post HS) education. If you say you can't afford it, that's what the FAFSA is for. You may be eligible for federal grants or student loans. You never know til you try right? Now, after you had filed your FAFSA, applied for student loans, and still could not afford it, then ok, fine. I understand that.
If you can't go get a degree, at least try to find a job of some sort! Some money is better than no money right?

Sorry, I went off on a random tangent...once I get going on something I have to finish it. =) Anyway, have a lovely evening!!!

Created in the image of God...graven images? Idols? Really?

Yup, here goes another rant that I've been thinking about a lot lately.

So, as most everyone knows, there is hardly a day that goes by without seeing a diet commercial, models that starve themselves to be stick thin, and people who slather on makeup and look completely like a doll or a clown. As a Christian, this seems to be an extremely downward spiral of humanity, in my opinion at least. It seems to me like we have begun making idols out of our own bodies or the bodies that we wish we had.

You know, in the Bible, Genesis 1:27 to be precise, it states: "So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."  So, I'm wondering, if all humans were made in the image of God, as the Bible states, why are we so concerned with changing the way we look in order to fit the needs of the world? Sure, I understand wanting to lose weight in order to be healthy or something like that, but there isn't any reason why we can't eat right and exercise.....that's just me rambling....

Another thing, I understand that the world is full of peer pressure and that the current ideology of being "beautiful" is being stick thin, having perfect hair, and gorgeous big eyes; but why do we care so freaking much about what the world thinks? All those looks will be gone in a few years, then wrinkles will take over....oh wait.....botox. It's just frustrating to me when I see tons of gorgeous people trying to change the way they look with plastic surgery and things of that nature. There is no reason to conform to the ways of the world.

Some people say that they need to change in order to find someone that will love them. Hm, think about that for a second. If someone loves you, would they just focus on the physical appearance? I highly doubt it. You see that's lust, not love. I think, we all just need to take a step back and focus on creating an internal beauty for ourselves, someone that will gain approval from God and that will not require approval from humanity. The saying, "Beauty is only skin deep" is rather true. Physical beauty is only skin deep, but being beautiful on the inside, now that's something worth achieving.

Anyway, it's also a fact in my mind that EVERYONE is beautiful in their own way. Like I said and the Bible said, we are created in the image of God....so wouldn't it be logical to assume that we are all beautiful?! Yup, that's right, let that sink in deep....

Blessings.

Chillaxing....

So, after I decided to chill and have some DP and cheese crackers I decided to apologize for SOME of what I said. Honestly, sure, I get frustrated when I see colleges spending money on sports when they don't even win and we're still spending money on travel and gear. It's probably because I'm not much of a sports person, I just enjoy watching the Sooners beat the Longhorns and any game that the Sooners win....anyway. I will apologize for that portion, but the part about being unfairly treated in debate I will not. I will however apologize for any personal attacks. I just find the grading unfair. Someone commented and said it was only 10%......you must know that when I know I deserved a better grade than a 90% which in turn knocked down my percentage in the class by 6 points, it is highly unfair. I was prepared, I did all the research and background information. All I did was stumble once during my first speech. I'm sorry, but that was just highly uncalled for. Anyway, I'll move on, I could rant and rave all day, but that won't get me anywhere. Ok, Culver-Stockton is a great school, just some things irk me like they do every where else. I could go on and on about how much I can't stand a certain fast food place or the horrid service at a restaurant. But still, it's just opinions.

Anywho, finals are next week, thank goodness. Even though, the only final I'm kinda sorta worried about is my Biology final, which is also the only class that I don't have an A in.....bleh. Oh well, it won't hurt my GPA too awfully bad.
Is it bad that I'm ready to be done with my undergrad and be in law school? 0.0 3 and a half  years.....whatever, gives me time to think about things.

So, when I get home for Thanksgiving I plan on just making yummeh food!!! Enchilada casserole, potato soup with corn bread, and then I'm nominating myself to make chocolate cream pie, and whatever other dessert for Thanksgiving dinner. OHHH I also want to see if grandma froze any blackberries, because Lord knows I didn't get around to it.

Then, I suppose my parents and everyone should meet my boyfriend....he's rather tall..... 6'7 and very handsome :) Hope you guys like him.

Uhm....Yeah.....

Dear Next Friday; COME QUICKLY!!! :)

The End. <3

Ignorance runs rampant through America....and possibly the rest of the world

I've decided that I seriously don't care what anyone thinks and I'm just going to speak my mind. Sure, I know that I'm going to encounter ignorant people anywhere I go, but let's be honest here, when you catch someone actually stealing stuff from you and you call them out on it but they just look at you with a dumb look on their face and say "Oh, this was YOUR money??". Seriously? Give me a break.

Also, this very same person was someone who I very recently got into a shallow debate about human population. Basically the outline of arguments were as follows:

Her:

1. Humans die anyway, so we should kill them off.

2. Over population is killing animals.

3. All the weight of humans will squish the earth.

Me:

1. Scientists are searching for ways to populate the world that were thought to be inhabitable.

2. Trees, animals, and anything else that we might "kill" are completely renewable.

3. The sedation of humans with the intent to kill is unethical and is murder.

Basically, the conversation progressed to her calling me a heartless B*&$@ because I "want to kill the cute little bunnies and kitties" and me just laughing because she thought it was unethical that I would rather kill "kitties" rather than babies and elderly people.

I'll admit, I didn't have the strongest arguments, but I also know, from living in a rual area that the earth is NOT over populated. There are still states in the United States that have an extremely low population density. But, it's the ignorance of humans that make them want to live in the dense population areas for art or a career that will never take off.

Just shut up people and do everyone a favor. The earth is NOT over populated. Stop being paranoid. Idiots.

Peace love and rainbows. <3
